There are two standard approaches to drawing a building. One would be to draw all the external walls, then finish off the interior. The second method which is what you will be investigating in this exercise, is to draw all the interior spaces first, then to put the external skin on at the end.

Step 1: Open the drawing file saved at the end of
Exercise 2, Tutorial 2. (Tutorial_2.dwg)

Step 2: Use the Zoom commands if necessary and ensure the complete building is visible on the screen.

Step 3:
Add an external skin to the building.

Command: SK ¿
Shortcut to Add External Skin command.

Step 4: Make the appropriate settings in the Smart Architect Add Skin to Perimeter dialog box. (Refer to Figure 2.4.2)

Make sure New is se in the Wall types.

Select Brick Veneer from the list of walls.

Leave Show Hatch turned off.

Leave the Wall Height at 3000
[ 10' ].

Click on the OK button.

The external wall is automatically changes to a Brick Veneer wall.

Note:
The Add Skin command relies on the building being properly enclosed, ie, all junctions must be true. The whole building must be visible on the screen for the command to function. If more than one building/enclosure exists on the screen, the command line prompts with the following.

Multiple enclosures...Pick point inside Space...<Exit>: Pick a point within the building.

Exercise:
Use the Add External Skin command again to change the current external wall to a different one, eg, 230mm 9" Brick.
